Semester Study Abroad UCT runs an exciting, varied and successful Semester Study Abroad (SSA) Programme which is administered by UCT’s International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO). The SSA Programme is designed for international students who wish to spend one or two semesters at UCT, taking undergraduate and postgraduate courses for the purpose of transferring credit, on completion, … semester study abroad programme fee of US$5600 yourselves. It was funds from American study abroad students that actually financed the establishment of IAPO. Since UCT’s Semester Study Abroad programme formally began in 1998, the Semester Study abroad and exchange students must write their examinations in accordance with the general rules applying for examinations for all UCT students. This means that:  Exams must be written on the date, time and in the venue listed on the exam schedule. The Partnerships, Mobility and Recruitment (PMR) section manages the Semester Study Abroad (SSA) programme at UCT, providing support services to incoming SSA students and managing the admissions and enrolment processes. Study Abroad/ Exchange programme, as part of a team, which processes applications, provides advice and pre- registers semester study abroad students. We seek to appoint two (2) SSA Officers in permanent capacity to fulfil this key role for appointment semester study abroad (ssa) applicants The SSA programme is offered to international students currently registered at their home university and who wish to undertake a semester at UCT. Upon completion of the semester abroad, the credits can be transferred to their programme at their home university.

Each faculty office houses academic departments which focus on particular subjects or disciplines. The structure of course codes shows the academic department, year of study and semester. Study abroad and exchange students can enrol in a maximum of four semester courses (or the equivalent where courses of differing lengths are chosen).
